Here are the excerpts from the exclusive conversation:

Reporter: Tell us about your schooling and education?

Dr. Baskshi: I did my schooling from Noorul Islam School at Baramulla. After that I pursued secondary and higher secondary education from Hr. Secondary School Kreeri Pattan. After my higher secondary education i pursued a Diploma in medical lab technology. However latter I did my masters degree in Business management followed by PhD. I always wanted to do PhD as it was my childhood dream besides being a businessman. I wanted to be a businessman and to contribute through my entrepreneurial initiatives in Kashmir.

Reporter: Why did not you prefer government job?

Dr. Baskshi: I used to study in class 8th and I had to write an essay “My Aim in life”. I wrote in this essay that I don’t want to become a doctor or an engineer but I want to become an entrepreneur, a businessman. My passion was business not job.

I believe if an honest businessman has a good idea, he can not only make his dream come true but also make his homeland proud and contribute economically. I am related to a health center where patients came to us with a hope. We are expected to provide proper health care facilities to the patients to contribute for healthy society. Being an entrepreneur we can lend a helping hand to our youth also. Many of our youngsters are addicted to drugs and many more are getting addicted. I sponsored a cricket tournament titled Wullar Premier League (WPL) to engage youth in extracurricular activities and away from illicit addictions and contrabands. At Asif Memorial health care, we will continue such youth engagement activities in sports.

Reporter: How can you explain or express your success?

Dr. Baskshi: It’s good feeling when you are doing well, generate opportunities for youth. It’s again good feeling when your dream comes true and people appreciate your work. These feelings are always an immense pleasure.

Reporter: What are that achievements you want to share and goals you have set?

Dr. Baskshi: I have been felicitated at several platforms since the project was established. But among some of the honors I have received is in year 2015 when I was felicitated by the then Health Minster Chaudhary Lal Singh. In 2016, the Industry and commerce nominated myself for National award for being one of the fastest growing young entrepreneurs from J&K. Asif Memorial Health Care also received best Diagnostic center award from Srinagar in Delhi organized by Prime Time Media. Infact the Health care unit also received the Best Diagnostic center award in North India.  What else you want being an entrepreneur.

Reporter: What next, what is your biggest dream?

Dr. Baskshi: My biggest dream is to be the highest tax payers in Kashmir. I want get felicitated at international level for my endeavor. Fortunately I have been nominated for Asia’s growing entrepreneur honor but due to Covid-19 outbreak felicitation ceremony was delayed.

Reporter: You are seen an inspiration to youth but who inspired you?

Dr. Baskshi: The credit of my strength, success and entrepreneurial story goes to my parents. But the support, motivation and Business achievements that I had, has a lot to tell about a woman behind me, who is my Wife Dr Sameena, my inspiration. She has supported me a lot in my business journey. I saw a lot of hardships in my life and losses in the initial stage of business but my wife’s good attitude and positivity gave me a lot of encouragement to work hard and carry on.
