Water scarcity triggers protest in Warpora Sopore

Sopore : Inhabitants of Warpora area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday staged a protest against the Jal Shakti Department (Public Health Engineering PHE) for failing to provide adequate water supply to them.

The protesting residents accused the department of ignoring their plights, saying that the womenfolk from the area are being forced to walk miles to fetch the water to quench the thirsty.

Muhammad Ashraf, a local resident said that “Our area has been grappling with the water crisis for more than one year. Nobody is paying heed to our sufferings.”

The protesters later appealed to the higher authorities to look into the matter.

Meanwhile, Executive Engineer Sopore, Ghulam Rasool told KNO that they have sent a team to look into the matter and the grievances of the locals will be redressed soon(KNO)
