SRINAGAR: Eisa Fazli, a BTech student at Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri had disappeared from his Srinagar residence a couple of months ago. Later it was known that he has joined the militants’ ranks.

Eisa’s father Naeem Fazili, a college principal, wrote on his Facebook timeline “As per reliable sources, my son Eisa Fazili has left for heavenly abode. Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un (We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return).”

His father had through social media issued appeals to his son to return home but he didn’t give any heed to his appeals.

According to family sources, Eisa’s grandfather Abdul Majid Fazli was associated with Jamat-e-Islami and district president Srinagar in 1990’s when renegades ruled the roost.

One of his close relatives is still the members of Markazi Shoora of Jamat-e-Islami while his aunt also heads the women wing of the JeI in Srinagar.

Some of the photographs that have gone viral show Eisa Fazli in the company of Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Geelani as well.

“Eisa was very religious and very close to Syed Ali Geelani,” said one of his relatives.

Last year, Fazili’s video had appeared on social networking websites, announcing his association with the Islamic State group. (CNS)
