SRINAGAR :  As a precautionary measures following slippery road condition due to sub-zero temperature during morning and evening hours, one-way traffic will ply on the historic 86-km-long Mughal road, connecting southern parts of Kashmir with Jammu, and on Srinagar-Leh highway.

However, the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway, linking Kashmir valley with the rest of the world, was through for two-way for light vehicular traffic though heavy vehicles will continue to ply from one side only.

A traffic police official told PTK that traffic on Mughal road will ply from Shopian in south Kashmir to Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu on Wednesday.

“We will allow two-way traffic on the road only after there is improvement in the weather and getting a green signal from the concerned officials,” he added.

The traffic on the Mughal road, which is seen as alternative to the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, was restored yesterday after remaining suspended for five days due to snowfall and slippery road conditions.
