Srinagar: A 22-year-old youth who was missing from May 23 along with the SPO guarding the BJP leader, has been arrested from Rafiabad area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district last night, official sources said Saturday.
Sources told GNS that the youth Arif Ahmad Malla son of Ghulam Mohidin was arrested from Rafiabad. However, there was no confirmation by police with regard to it.
SPO Waseem Ahmad Malla went missing along with two other youth from his native village, one of whom was Arif on May 23.
SPO, posted at the residence of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader, had allegedly fled with service rifle of the personal security officer of the leader.
Waseem was posted at the guard room of the BJP leader Mohammad Maqbool War at Rohama Rafiabad and he along with Arif and other youth went missing along with the service rifle of the PSO identified as head constable Dilshad.
Besides, the service rifle, Waseem also took away some ammunition, they said. So far it was not clear whether the SPO and other youth joined militant ranks or not. (GNS)
