Parents say he is ‘mentally unsound’
Srinagar : An alleged ‘mentally unsound’ youth was apprehended after he allegedly tried to snatch the service rifle of a trooper in Nowhatta area of Srinagar city.
Spokesperson CRPF Pankaj Singh told KNT that troopers from 21 Battalion D-Company were deployed in Nowhatta area when a young man tried to snatch the service rifle of Head Constable Simrandar Singh. However, the alert trooper foiled the bid and apprehended the young man. He was later handed over to police.
The youth has been identified as 28 year old Tehreen Ahmed Dar son of Shabir Ahmed Dar, a resident Umarabad Peerbagh area of Srinagar. Shortly after the incident, Joint Forces conducted search of his house but found nothing objectionable. Sources told KNT that parents informed search party that their son Tehreen Dar is ‘mentally unsound’.
Sources added that after the incident when the youth in question was asked why he tried to snatch the rifle, he replied ‘Khuda Ka Hukum Tha’ (It was God’s order).
Sources said that an FIR vide number 40/2020 under section 392, 511 has been registered in this regard while police is trying to ascertain the background and antecedents of the arrested youth. (KNT)
