SRINAGAR: Hailing the efforts of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu for protecting the special taxation powers of J&K while rolling out of GST, the young legislators of the party Aijaz Ahmed Mir,Yawar Dilawar Mir and Firdous Ahmed Tak said that it is after a long spell that any constitutional amendment of parliament has not been unilaterally extended to J&K and that our state is the only state in the country with power to tax services.
Lauding the efforts of Finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu for taking a tough stand in the Empowered Committee on Goods and Services Tax (GST) on protecting the special status of Jammu and Kashmir with regards to taxation, these Young legislators said that Union finance minister Arun Jaitley, made it amply clear that state government will decide the manner and method of GST keeping in view its special status.
Spotlighting the tax incentives and exemptions that the state government awards various human resource intensive industries, which have been done away in the GST, these legislators hailed the business friendly stand of the Finance Minister thereby giving impetus to the conducive business atmosphere which in turn will generate opportunities for young and talented youth of the state.
