You may love or hate video-sharing app TikTok. However, the app became a boon for a woman in Tamil Nadu when it helped her locate and get reunited with her ‘lost’ husband. The app helped the woman identify her husband who reportedly had fled three years back. According to a report in The New Indian Express, the man named Suresh had left his wife and two children in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, in 2016. The hapless wife kept looking for Suresh at different places and lodged an FIR with the local police station. However, this did not help as the man remained untraceable.
It was only after three years, that a relative stumbled upon a video on TikTok which showcased a person who looked similar to Suresh. The relative got in touch with the wife who confirmed that the person in the TikTok video is indeed her husband Suresh. The Villupuram police was alerted and they took the efforts to track Suresh in Hosur, said the report.
On further enquiry, the police got to know, Suresh had fled from his house after he got angry with certain household issues. He shifted to Hosur and found work as a mechanic. Meanwhile, he even got into a relationship with a trans woman. Interestingly, it is this relation which helped the police to track him. The trans woman was also seen in the TikTok video. “We traced them down with the help of the transgender association in Villupuram,” the police officer was quoted in the report.
While a video on TikTok was helpful in this incident, it recently claimed the life of a teenager in Uttar Pradesh. Two 19-year-old boys who probably didn’t know how to swim jumped off a crowded bridge into a river in Deoria to shoot a video of their daredevilry on TikTok and one of them got drowned in the process.
