Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir’s security asserted that despite their fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, and being on the frontline of battle against the virus, there is no impact on the “anti-militancy operations in J&K UT as 11 militants have been killed in the hinterland while as five were killed near LoC” since the pandemic griped the UT.
A senior police official told news agency KINS that even though maximum manpower is on the streets ensuring strict lockdown across the J&K UT, but there has been no effect on the flow of information to “human the technical intelligence.”
“There was delay in the flow of information when communication was shut. But as of now, things are back on track. Human and technical intelligence is helping not only track down militants but to conduct clean operations across J&K,” the officer told KINS, requesting not to be named.
Another top officials in the security said that this is happening despite the fact that large number of police and paramilitary CRPF personnel are deployed on roads across J&K to implement lockdown in spirit.
Figures available with the police suggest that “11 militants including the four killed today in the encounter at Mehloora, Shopian and two militants killed in an encounter with security agencies in Dachen woods of Kishtwar recently”.
The police had maintained that the duo had first killed an SPO and left another one injured and later took shelter in the forest range of Dachen. “They were however, traced within three days and killed in a brief gunfight”.
Soon after the gunfight, Director General of Police (J&K), Dilbagh Singh visited Doda-Kishtwar recently and asked the policemen to eliminate the residual militancy in the twin districts.
Pertinently, Inspector General CRPF (operations) Kashmir, Rajesh Yadav during the wreath laying ceremony of three slain militants at STC Humhama stated that security forces were capable of dealing with the multiple challenges. “We are dealing with Covid-19 and the militancy in a professional manner,” the officer had said.
Sources said that the counter insurgency wing of the police and other security forces are working to receive and work on leads provided by the human sources on ground about the presence of militants across the length and breadth of Kashmir. “There is a good flow of info these days,” sources in the security grid said.
