Wind and hailstorm cause damage to fruits, houses

Srinagar: A strong wind and hailstorm uprooted trees and caused damage to orchards and fresh fruits in Shadab Khrew area of South Kashmir’s Shopian distirct on Friday evening.

Locals told KNT that fresh fruits and standing crops were damaged and a number of tress was uprooted after windstorm struck the area.

Following the wind and hailstorm, power supply was also snapped due to the breaking of poles and cables.

They said that strong winds also caused damage to many residential houses.

Windstorm also caused damage to some shops in Charar-e-Sharif area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

MeT has predicted intermittent rainfall on 26 and 27 of this month. (KNT)
