SRINAGAR : Scores of residents of Warpora Tangmarag reaches press enclave in Srinagar to protest the illegal construction on the marshy land in the area today on Thursday.
They alleged the Land sharks have a field day as the government turns a blind eye to the illegal constructions. They demanded immediate action against those who are grabbing the land in the area.
The protesting residents shouted slogans against the authorities. They said that the concerned Sub District Magistrate (SDM) is in hand and glove with some grabbers who are filling the land or make fences.
Protesters said, “The land which local people once were used to feed their cattle’s and sheep’s has been slowly turned into barren, people have gradually constructed shops and houses which has direct impact on our cattle’s because the area people are wholly depend on it”.
Protesters added that the encroachers have not only made houses and constructed business establishments but have planted willows and poplars by which they are turn the government land into their own property locals sound alarm if government continues hiding
Meanwhile, locals said the concerned SDM has demolished some constructions in the marshy and meadow land but the demolition have been done only to those people who have no political approach and those who have political back they always escape. Protesters appealed administrations to look into the matter.
