Villagers accuse Army Major of harassment, File complaint before police

Pulwama : Locals from a Pulwama village today approached police station and registered a complaint against an Army Major accusing him of unnecessary harassment.

Reliable sources said that amid shutdown, an army patrolling party from 44 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army entered into Qalampora village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

   The presence of army in the village crated panic while youth pelted stones at them. The army according to sources resorted to aerial firing. One youth suffered injuries. Police confirmed that army resorted to aerial firing and added that a local youth was wounded after he was hit by a stone.

   The police official who wished not to be named also confirmed that a group of villagers approached police station and moved an application against one Major Shukla accusing him of unnecessary harassment.

  Meanwhile, Zonal Police Headquarters issued a statement that read: “Some media sections are circulating false news regarding a person receiving firearm injury at Qalampora, Pulwama. The news is baseless and is strongly rebutted.”

“We request citizens not to fall prey to any speculations and rumours which are intended to disturb peace. J&K Police seeks your cooperation for maintaining order.” (CNS)
