SRINAGAR: Vigilance organisation today said that on the basis of verification conducted by Vigilance Organization regarding allegations of misappropriation of cement and steel for an amount of Rs. 9,21,735.00 from the store of BDO-Block Barnoti, Kathua by Mohinder Singh S/O Lochan Singh R/O Ward No.15, Patel Nagar Kathua, then posted as Storekeeper BDO Block Barnoti, Kathua, a case FIR No. 20/2012 P/S VOJ u/s 5(1)(c)(d) r/w 5(2) J&K Prevention of Corruption Act Svt 2006, 409, 467,468,471 RPC was registered at P/S VOJ on 06.11.2012.
A statement issued by the Vigilance said that during the course of investigations, further record for about 06 years, has been seized from the store as well as office of Block Development Officer, Barnoti and scrutinized by the vigilance organization.
It adds that further investigations into the matter reveal that the accused official of BDO Block Barnoti by abuse of official position with ulterior motive, misappropriated huge quantity of cement /steel meant for various infrastructural developmental schemes of the Rural Development Department causing loss to state exchequer.
“The above mentioned accused official who is presently posted as Senior Assistant in the Office of Assistant Soil Conservation Officer, Dayalchak (Kathua) has been arrested by the sleuths of vigilance organization and presently lodged in P/S Pacca Danga for sustained questioning”, statement reads.
