Video : Police vehicle used to distribute food packets among BJP workers in Anantnag

A gypsy of Jammu and Kashmir Police was on Saturday used to distribute food among the supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a poll rally in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, prompting the police to initiate a probe.

Images and videos of the rally showed the workers swarming a police vehicle (bearing registration number JK02BA 4558) to receive food packets.

The white-colour gypsy was parked at the venue of the rally in Khanabal which was addressed by the BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav.

“Today, a video surfaced on social media where in one police vehicle is being seen being utilised for distribution of food items in a political party rally in Anantnag. The vehicle in question was deployed for ferrying escort personnel of a protected person,” said a police spokesman.

He said the vehicle has been withdrawn from said protected person and driver of the vehicle has been attached. “Enquiry into the matter has been ordered under rules,” he said.
