Video : Nowhatta erupts after Friday prayers, many injured

SRINAGAR : Intense clashes erupted between youth and security forces outside Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of old city.

As per reports, soon after the Friday prayers ended, youth started chanting slogans in favour of militants and freedom. They youth later assembled outside Jamia Masjid and started throwing stones on government forces  who were deployed outside of the mosque.

The reports further said that security forces in retaliation of stone pelting fired some teargas smoke shells and pellets towards the youth who pelting stone. After security forces tried to chase them away, they went inside the mosque. During clashes, at least six youth suffered pellet injuries. (PTK)
