In addition to the policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, the MHA in the Government of India has kept the establishment of rule of law and taking action against corrupt persons as a high priority, according to sources.

Many actions have been taken by ED, NIA, CBI, CBDT, as well as various agencies of Jammu and Kashmir Government. Recently, steps have been initiated against Zahoor Watali and many others for financing terror, including attaching of various properties of terror financiers in Gurgaon and J&K; starting of trial against Yasin Mallik, and others. Due to the persistence of MHA, the Anti Corruption Bureau was established in J&K just a few months ago.

In a crackdown that could reach many high-profile politicians in the state, the Jammu and Kashmir government had started investigations against a web of operations surrounding former J&K Bank chairman Parvez Ahmed Nengroo. The raids were conducted following allegations that Parvez Ahmed offered loans worth crores to people recommended by politicians, placed his relatives in plum positions, and for even diverting funds meant for the bank’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Following the allegations, Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday removed Chairman of J&K Bank Parvez Ahmad and appointed R K Chibber as interim chairman of the lender.

“Parvez Ahmad, Chairman cum Managing Director, shall cease to be Director on the Board of Directors of the Bank and consequently be no longer the Chairman cum Managing Director of the board,” an order issued by Additional Secretary, Finance, Vishal Sharma said in Srinagar.

However, Nengroo in Twitter post has said that he has no regrets and he did his job most diligently and honestly. (PTK)
