Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference Senior Vice President and Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil today demanded immediate shifting of J&K residents who are stranded in different parts of India since the COVID-19 lockdown. Although they had completed their quarantine. No doubt some measures have been taken still most of students and Labour’s are strand in different States. What is the fun of putting poor people in trouble which includes labourers and students Vakil asked.
Mr. Vakil urged the Lieutenant Governor that the need of the hour is that all the residents of J&K who are stranded in different states and cities of India should be brought back to their home in view of difficulties and hardships faced by them. “Most of the stranded residents especially the students and labourers are running short of resources and many of them have personally called me over phone from Uttarakhand, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Many of them are also stranded in Jammu and it is shocking that J&K government is not making any arrangements to send them back to their homes as now it is not possible for them to continue their stay in different states and cities as they are lacking the resources and at the same time their families are worried and distressed which is effecting the mental health of the people as well.
Vakil stressed upon the UT Government to take up this issue with the Union Govt and other State Governments and pursue for immediate return of the stranded people to their homes.
“The JK govt must press in their choppers and other modes of transportation to bring its people back. It should be the priority of the ruling regime, which unfortunately they are giving a deaf ear to this sensitive issue,” Vakil added.
