Unscheduled power cuts irks residents of Tral Villages

SRINAGAR : Unscheduled power cuts for long hours have irked the residents of various villages of Aripal tehsil of Tral sub-district of Pulwama .

“We are facing acute power crisis in our locality. Low voltage and unscheduled power cuts are causing us a lot of miseries. Our children aren’t able to give their 100% to their studies as they need”,villagers said .

They said that their appeals for a better working transformer are falling on deaf ears. A residents of Dar Ganie Gund said, “Frequent power cuts are evident here. We do not receive proper power supply as per schedule, which have become a daily affair now since last 3 days”.

Residents of jawaharpira lam, Guttangoo, khanagund, sofigund, heaven, and wagad said that despite paying electricity bills regularly they don’t get regular electric supply.

“What prevents the PDD from providing us electricity? As we are paying regular bills  but still have erratic power supply. Our PDD department seems to be doing nothing to improve electric supply in our locality”, they added.

Meanwhile, Assistant Executive Engineer, Power development department, Tral, Mohd Maqbool Ahanger, told  that the power cuts are due to increase in load at main grid station Awantipora. He further said that station is catering four big feeders and keeping in view increasing load, authorities there are now equally distributing electricity to all the areas one by one.“Load increase is happening due to dip in temperature from last few days”, Maqbool said.
