Srinagar : The district president of Ummat e Islami (UEI) for district Pulwama, Aijaz Noori has been booked under Public safety act and shifted to Kot Bhalwal Jail.
Noori was arrested on November 07 and has been shifted to Jammu today morning after remaining in Pulwama Jails for more than a month.
The spokesman said that Ummat e Islami Monday visited his family and said that the district president of Ummat e Islami had been harassed by forces constantly prior to his arrest in Pulwama, “he had been subjected to harassment and threats,” a spokesman said VMS in a statement.
Ummat e Islami condemning his booking under Public safety Act said that on one side Kashmiri youth are being ‘brutally murdered’ and on the other they are being thrown behind Bars. “There is a continuous campaign against Ummat e Islami, on one side there is a constant defamation campaign against Ummat e islami, on the other, the preachers of Ummat e islami are being stopped from delivering sermons in many south Kashmir mosques and members of Ummat e Islami are being sent to Jammu Jails,” Waheed Ahmed Khan, the general secretary of Ummat e Islami said.
He said that such brutal measures and threats by Indian forces cannot muzzle the voice of Ummat e Islami or Kashmiri people, in fact such measures would intensify one’s course to truth. He demanded the release of political prisoners including Qazi Ahmed yasir, Sarjan Barkati, Masarat Alam and others.
Ummat e Islami in the past weeks visited the homes of Pulwama youth including the house of Zahoor Ahmed Thokar at Sirnoo, they also visited the house of slain Militants of Ansar ul Ghazwat ul Hind in Tral in South Kashmir.(VMS)
