Two Days Advance Training Workshop concludes at KU

Srinagar: The Two Day Advance Training Workshop for Frontline Functionaries of women related centres organized by the Department of Social Work, University of Kashmir in joint collaboration with Central Social Welfare Board, Ministry of Women and Child Development, GoI, concluded at KU on Saturday.

The training programme was attended by around 90 frontline functionaries of women-related centres sponsored by the CSWB and J&K SSWB across 22 districts of J&K State.

The CSWB had roped-in experts and consultants from Ministry of Women and Child Development, United Nation Women, Ministry of Home Affairs, State Resource Centres for Women and faculty members of Department of Social Work, KU.

On the inaugural day of the workshop during different panel discussions and technical sessions the experts had intense deliberations on diverse themes related to scheme and facilities essential for women affected with violence in the State of J&K.

Earlier while inaugurating the training workshop the Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir, Prof Talat Ahmad assured all possible support to build collaborations with agencies working for women empowerment in the State.

Farooq Ahmad Lone (IAS), Commissioner/Secretary to J&K Govt. Social Welfare Department appreciated support of the Department of Social Work, KU in collaborating with Central and State functionaries in organizing this Training Workshop.

The inaugural function was also attended by Mr. VS Yadav (IAS)Director, MWCD, GoI, Mr. DS Bukkhal Joint Director, CSWB, New Delhi, Mrs.Rifat Arif, Special Secretary to J&K Govt, Social Welfare Department, Mr. Khalid, Executive Director, SSWB, J&K, Dr.Shazia Manzoor, Coordinator, Department of Social Work, KU and Dr. Aadil Bashir, KU.

Moreover, across six technical sessions inputs from experts, participants and officials on diverse dimensions of Women empowerment in the State were discussed and pledged to be considered seriously for upgrading policies and schemes implemented by these women-related centres.

The participants on the second day had exposure visits across Srinagar District to assess the functioning of different One Stop Centre, Mahila Shakti Kendra and Family Counselling Centres established under different central and state schemes.

The functionaries, experts and officials from Central & State Govt jointly conducted the visits and had on-spot deliberations on variety of issues and concerns of these field-level functionaries.
