SRINAGAR: Two senior BJP minister in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday tendered their resignation to state party President Sat Sharma in the state winter capital. The party will take a call on it tomorrow, Sat Shama told GNS.
Sources told GNS that the minister for Forests Choudary Lal Singh and Industries Minister Chander Prakash submitted their resignations before the party president.
The duo, according to the sources submitted the resignation following pressure from the senior leaders of the BJP amid outrage over their presence in a rally organized by the Hindu Ekta Manch in support of the accused and transfer the rape and murder case to CBI.
The sources maintained the duo was asked to submit their resignation to safeguard the ruling government amid apprehensions that PDP may break the alliance with their coalition partner.
The development comes after the countrywide outrage over brutal rape and murder of the 8-year-old Asifa and the hard-hitting statement of Tadaduq Mufti, tourism minister and brother of chief minister Mehbooba Mufti.
Confirming the submitting the resignation, BJP President Sat Sharma told GNS that both the ministers tendered their resignation.
Asked whether resignation has been forwarded to the Governor of the state, Sharma said that it will be decided in all party legislators meeting which has been convened tomorrow.
The all party legislators meeting of BJP will be held in Jammu and BJP vice-president Avinash Rai Khanna was likely to attend it. Ram Madhev who is out of country is unlikely to attend the meeting but a senior leader from New Delhi was expecting to arrive tomorrow to discuss the future strategy. (GNS)
