Truckers banned from unloading and ply on Pahalgam Road.

Annantnag: While Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is entering in its second day, truckers in South Kashmir have alleged that they are being harassed with the pretext of security to Yatra.

A group of truckers, while speaking to CNS alleged that they are stranded in various areas of the region since 20th June, as they have been stopped from unloading the trucks by the forces, citing security reasons. They alleged that they are being stopped from unloading and as result thereof, the goods waiting for unloads are rotting in the trucks, rice load in particular. They alleged that due to being stranded for long a period now, their money has siphoned off and they are thus unable to even feed themselves.

According to reports security forces have put restrictions on plying vehicles on KP Road and Lazibal Road, which link Anantnag with Pehalgam.

Reports reaching Srinagar suggest that a protest demonstration was held by the Civil Society Anantnag, against the alleged high handedness of the forces, for even stopping civil traffic on various roads in the area.(CNS)
