Pulwama : Residents of Zradihad village in Tral have demanded basic facilities in their area.

They alleged that the Jal Shakti Department has been unable to provide them with a drinking water facility in their area.

Locals told that a pipeline was removed in the area to construct a road but since then years have passed but a new supply line is yet to be laid.

Irshad Khan, a local resident, said that they are forced to drink contaminated water as there is no other option before them.

“We have to go for kilometres to fetch drinking water which is contaminated and it takes our women folk hours together to fetch the water,” he said.

Locals said that besides the water crisis, unscheduled power cuts are prevalent and lack of paved road hampers their movement.

They said that they approached the concerned authorities several times for want of basic facilities to the village to no avail

They said that construction work on the road is going at snail’s pace and authorities must take note of it—KNO)
