SRINAGAR: Due to occurring of landslides, shooting stones as a result of recent rainfall, damage was caused to the NHW at various places and Seri, Digdol, Gangroo, Panthyal, Hingni and Sherbibi are to name a few, Jammu & Kashmir traffic police posted on its facebook page.

Traffic police said that the width of the road at these locations is narrow which makes the movement of traffic difficult and therefore not feasible for two-way traffic.

“Therefore, subject to fair weather/ good condition of the road and clearance from Traffic Control Units, strict one way movement of traffic shall be allowed on the NHW on 09.04.2017. Under the said plan movement of traffic shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar side in a regulated manner. Movement of LMVs/passenger vehicles/Tankers shall be allowed from Nagrota (Jammu) from 0700 hours up to 1000 hours and from Udhampur up to 1100 hours only. However, the movement of HMVs (excluding Trailers/multi-axle vehicles) including convoys of Army, BSF, CRPF etc. shall be allowed from Nagrota (Jammu) from 0730 hours up to 1030 hours and from Udhampur up to 1130 hours only. Strict implementation of prescribed cut off timings shall be ensured to avoid chaos/ congestion on the NHW”, J&K traffic police said.

“No movement of traffic including that of convoys of Army, BSF, CRPF etc. shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu side on 09.04.2017 under any circumstances to ensure hassle free movement of traffic on the NHW” J&K traffic police added.

“Commuters are requested/advised that vehicles are not parked in any landslide/vulnerable zones of NHW especially from Ramsoo – Jawahar Tunnel – Levdora under any circumstances. All the vulnerable/slide-prone zones should be kept free from any kind of traffic to avoid any eventuality”, J&K traffic police posted on its facebook page.

it further adds, that people are requested to undertake journey on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway after confirming status from the TCUs. They should contact TCU Srinagar (01942450022, 2485396), TCU Ramban (9419993745) and TCU Jammu (01912459048, 9419147732) to get the status of the road before starting their journey.
