SRINAGAR : The frequent traffic jams in the Srinagar city irks the commuters besides pedestrians too facing the brunt.
Many commuters, pedestrians told PTK that they are facing hardships due to the massive traffic jam in Srinagar city.
They said that the hundreds of vehicles remain stuck in gridlock for hours together.
They also alleged that there is dearth of traffic police on roads to make the smooth transport.
It is the mostly college going students, officer goers who often faces the problems due to traffic congestion. “We can’t reach our collages on time. You see the huge gridlock how it is possible to reach in time”, said Mohammad Irfan of Batmaloo, a student.
Pertinently, the massive traffic jam is witnessed at Rambagh, Jawahar Nagar, Jahangir Chowk, Dalgate and its adjacent areas.
Javaid Ahmad, a shopkeeper from Lalchowk said “The main reason of traffic jam is wrong parking. Usually people come for shopping and keep their vehicles on roadside that affects smooth traffic system in the city”.
“We cannot only blame authorities over the massive traffic jams but we people are also involved for such gridlock. We don’t park our vehicles in parking zone. We must ignore such kind of negligence’s as it led to the sufferings of commuters,” Javid Ahmad, another Shopkeeper said.
The commuters as well as the pedestrians urged the traffic authorities to press men and machinery to ensure smooth passage of the traffic on the city road.
