SRINAGAR: Three militants were killed in a gunfight with the government forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday, army said.
In a tweet, army said that three militants were killed in Yarwan forest of the district in a gunfight that broke out earlier today. “Weapons also recovered. Operation in progress,” said the tweet.
A police official said that the soldiers of 23 PARA cordoned off Yarwan, Keller, a forest area on the tail end of district and started a search operation at around 2:30 am.
While the operation was in progess, militants hiding in a hideout opened fire on the forces, he said.
The soldiers returned the fire, triggering a gunfight.
