Three army soldiers were wounded in a gunfight that broke out between the militants and the government forces in Nadigam village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday.
Reports said a joint team of army’s 34RR, 23 PARA and SOG Shopian cordoned off Nadigam folowing inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired a volley of bullets, they said.
The forces retaliated, leading to a gunfight in which so far three soldiers were wounded, said a source.
He identified the injured soldiers as Sepoy Shailender Singh of 34 RR, Lance Naik Somveer of 23 PARA and Havaldar Bhupinder Singh of 23 PARA.
The exchange of fire was on when this report was being filed.
