The govt school is headless for the last 4 years

Kulgam : The Government Higher Secondary School Munad Guffan in Yaripora in Kulgam has lacked basic amenities such as separate washrooms for female students and staff with the school headless for the last four years.

The residents of the area along with students told  that the school has just two washrooms which are being used by both male, female students and staff.

They said that the lawn of the school is uneven and it turns into a pool during rain.

The school has a total of 170 students and all of them are facing problems due to shabby classrooms and damaged furniture, they said.

A new building has been constructed but due to unknown reasons it hasn’t been made functional yet, said a local.

He said that the school has been functioning without a principal for the last four years.

There is no proper fencing and anyone can enter the premises after school hours.

A teacher on condition of anonymity said that the main building has ten rooms, one each for the library, sports, computer, admission hall and a Principal’s office. Only five rooms are functional for teaching purposes, he said.

Locals said that despite bringing the issue into the notice of the concerned authorities, nothing was done so far.

An official said that they have already taken up the issue of completion of the new building with the executing agency and it will be completed soon.
