Srinagar: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) additional spokesman Tahir Syeed hails the decision of New Delhi to expand the railway link upto Kupwara in North Kashmir.
In a statement issued here on Saturday Tahir said that this decision will boost the socioeconomic conditions of the frontier district which faces lots of difficulties in absence of any such connectivity and typical terrain and topography.
He said the business community of the area will also be benefitted out of this all weather connectivity and will have direct delivery of the consignments and will not be forced anymore to pay hefty sums as freight and carriage charges.
“Realisation of railway connectivity to Kupwara is a result of constant efforts put forth by PDP president Mehbooba Mufti. During public outreach program at Kupwara the then CM Mehbooba Mufti had assured the people of area that this district will also be connected with the railway link for the people,” he said and added that the centre approved the link only after Mehbooba as chief Minister during her tenure took up the matter with union government.
Tahir said that his party president had also assured the people that Sadhna tunnel would be constructed on war footing when Mehbooba was the chief minister and in this regard she had already sought an assurance from New Delhi.
According to Tahir, the people of Karnah have been facing huge difficulties in winters in absence of any proper road connectivity and hostile weather conditions.
