‘Process shelved for unknown reasons’

Srinagar : The J&K government is indecisive about holding exams of aspirants who applied for the supervisor post in social welfare department over an year ago.

Also the department had invited applications for the post of district child protection officer and programme manager in May last year and the process was shelved for unknown reasons.

” The department shelved the process after collecting application forms from candidates along with the fee,”  group of aspirants  told wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

The aspirants said that both these posts were advertised during the PDP led coalition government under different schemes of the social welfare department.

“The J&K Service Selection Board (SSB) invited applications for the supervisor post in April last year and the aspirants submitted their application along with the Rs 800 as examination fee,” they told KNO.

They said the exam for supervisor post was supposed to be conducted by SSB while as the selection for post of programme manager and child protection officer was to be done at department level.

“But none of the these exams was conducted so far,” the aspirants said.

They aspirants accused the department of swindling the fee under the garb of providing jobs to the unemployed youth. “On an average Rs 1200 has been paid by each aspirants for three posts but department is indecisive about conducting exams,” they told KNO.

Meanwhile an official in civil secretariat told KNO that the selection for the post of was to be done on basis of written exam and interview but the authorities in SSB proposed to cancel the interview and go ahead for selection on performance of candidates in written exams.

He said an official communiqué was sent by SSB to General Administration Department (GAD) but the file was not processed further.

“The proposal for cancellation of interview was submitted to ensure fair selection for the post ad there are always chances of frauds in interviews,” he said.

The prolonged delay by the government has left the aspirants in state of despair.They complained that government has subjected them to mental trauma by delaying exams.

“There are rumours about promotions of in-service Anganwari workers as supervisors and promotes will be adjusted against the available vacancies which were advertised for fresh recruitment. We will hit streets if somet like this happened,” they said.

Chairman JKSSB, Rahul Sharma told KNO that the department is aware about the issue and he will ascertain the status of the recruitment notification advertised by the board.

“We will also take up the matter with government to expedite the process,” he said. (KNO)
