Handwara, Feb 9, KNT: A team has been constituted to probe the matter after it came to fore that the department of ICDS Langate in North Kashmir’s Handwara town has purchased expired and ‘substandard’ material at exorbitant rates for the ICDS Project Langate.
Reports said that everything that is being supplied to ICDS Centres and subsequently to children is not only sub-standard but expired too. Reports added that the food items that has expired are still being distributed among children.
Insiders told news agency Kashmir News Trust that expired and substandard material is currently lying at various ICDS Centres including Mandigam, Badra, Bicherwara, Kohru, Guloora etc.
At some Centers, ‘C’ grade edible oil has been supplied and the same has been shown as ‘A’ grade in vouchers against the rules.
People are anguished, expressing anger against the department for supplying the expired food stuff meant for the children.They say the department is playing with the lives of children.They sought strict action against those involved in the act.
Director ICDS Rubina Kousar said that team has already been constituted to probe the matter. “Guilty will face the music and nobody will be allowed to defy the government orders,” she said. (KNT)
