Strengthening the Fight Against Drug Menace: ICDS Workers Sensitized at CDPO Office, Bandipora

Bandipora :- In a concerted effort to bolster strategies aimed at eradicating the drug menace at the grassroots level, a crucial awareness cum sensitization program was conducted for ICDS (Integrated Child Development Scheme) workers at the CDPO (Child Development Project Officer) Office in Bandipora. The initiative, as per the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), held under the auspices of the District Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Shakeel ul Rehman IAS and supervised by District Social Welfare Officer Bandipora, Mr. Hidaitullah Mir JKAS, witnessed active participation and support from various stakeholders.

During the event, CDPO Bandipora, Mr. Mr. Ghulam Mohammad Dar lauded the efforts of the District Administration Bandipora, the Department of Social Welfare Bandipora, the implementing agency JKSWM and the DDAC. Mr. Dar pledged unwavering support and cooperation towards the shared goal of eradicating the drug menace from the community.

Mr. Showkat Ahmad, Poject Coordinator, District Drug De-Addiction Centre (DDAC) Bandipora, underscored the pivotal role being played by the DDAC in addressing the challenges posed by substance abuse. He shed light on the comprehensive strategies employed by the centre to combat the menace effectively.

Ms. Shabnum Shaban, Counselor DDAC, provided valuable insights into the array of services and facilities offered by the centre. Her presentation aimed at familiarizing the attendees with the support mechanisms available for those affected by drug addiction.

Mr. Jawhar Ahmad, Outreach Worker at DDAC, emphasized the imperative of joint coordination at both individual and organizational levels to effectively combat the drug menace. He stressed the need for a collaborative effort to address the issue comprehensively.

As part of the program, posters and pamphlets highlighting the DDAC’s schemes, services, and facilities were distributed among the participants. The dissemination of information aimed to raise awareness and equip attendees with valuable resources to address the challenges posed by substance abuse.

The event was attended by CDPO/ICDS Officers, officials, supervisors, and Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), resulting in a substantial and engaged gathering. The organizers received commendation from the participants, affirming the success and importance of such initiatives in building a united front against the pervasive issue of drug abuse. The collective resolve evident at the event reflects a shared dedication to creating a drug-free and healthier community.
