Srinagar: Two well-educated sisters hailing from Srinagar district have embarked on a journey to become financially independent and create job opportunities for others through their fabric business.

Anju Baqal, an M.Com and B.Ed graduate, alongside her sister Yasmeen Baqal, who holds an M.Tech degree, has established the business venture ‘Abena Fabric’ in Sadrabal Hazratbal.

Speaking with the news agency Anju said her entrepreneurial journey dates back to her childhood.

“From a young age, I had a keen interest in pursuing a business related to art and design, and to create employment opportunities for others,” she said. “With a positive mindset to become financially independent and create job opportunities for others, I have started this wonderful life journey with my sister.”

Anju said before starting the business, she worked as a team leader at several places. Thereafter, I discussed the idea with sisters and parents who provided financial support to kickstart the venture, she said.

“The primary goal behind our business is to serve as an inspiration for the younger generation and cultivate a positive mindset towards women’s entrepreneurship,” Baqal added.

Anju has a message to individuals awaiting job opportunities, and urged them to move beyond “daydreaming”. “My advice is for those who keep waiting for jobs and expecting miracles. They should start small and prove their capabilities,” Baqal stressed.

Anju encouraged the youth, particularly women, to explore entrepreneurship instead of solely pursuing government jobs. “With determination, they can establish small businesses, achieve independence and lead fulfilling lives,” she said—(KNO)
