SRINAGAR : The Srinagar-Leh highway, the only road connecting the Kashmir valley with the frontier region of Ladakh, was thrown open for traffic on both the sides on Friday.
The road was thrown open after remaining closed for about four months due to heavy snowfall during winter.
The road was officially thrown open by GOC 15 Corps Lt Gen A K Bhat during a road opening ceremony near Zojila. An official said that heavy vehicles, however, have not been allowed to start travelling yet. (PTK)
