Srinagar: Three Jaish-e-Mohammed militants perished in an encounter with security forces after a Cordon and Search operation was launched on Tuesday evening in South Kashmir district of Pulwama.
Official sources said that following specific information about the presence of militants, a joint CASO was launched by Special Operation Group (SOG) of state police, Army and CRPF at Kamginag in Pulwama late on Tuesday evening.

However, when security forces were cordoning off the area, militants fired with automatic weapons. “The security forces retaliated ensuing in an encounter,” they said.
Sources said three militants were killed in the encounter. “Arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site”, they said, adding that slained militants belonged to JeM. They said, ” the encounter has ended though the search operation was going on to sanitise the area. “
