Against total sanctioned strength of 10842 posts, only 7357 filled so far
Srinagar: Apart from its failure to strengthen the teaching section, the school education department has miserably failed to strengthen the non-teaching section of the department which has adversely affected the day to day affairs of the department.
As per the official documents accessed by the wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), more than 3000 posts in non-teaching section are lying vacant in Kashmir division. The department has failed to fill the vacant posts, exposing the non-seriousness of the department in improving the delivery system at zonal level as well as at office of Chief Education Officers (CEOs) throughout Kashmir.
The document reveals that there is a total sanctioned strength of 10842 posts in Kashmir division against which only 7357 posts have been filled and 3485 posts are lying vacant.
“There is a total sanctioned strength of 28 posts of section officers in zonal and CEO offices against which only eight have been filled so far. Twenty posts of section officers are lying vacant from past many years,” reads the document.
An official said the dearth of staff has adversely affected the delivery system in the department as the authorities have assigned additional charge of the vacant posts to the employees.
Also, against the sanctioned strength of 138 posts of head assistants only 86 posts have been filled in the department and 52 are vacant. “There are 656 posts of senior assistants in Kashmir division against which only 541 are filled and 115 posts are lying vacant,” the document reads, as per KNO.
Also, against the sanctioned strength of 1114 posts of junior assistants only 905 posts have been filled so far while as 209 posts are lying vacant. “Against the sanctioned strength of 1527 posts of laboratory assistants only 1061 posts have been filled by the department while as 466 posts are still unfilled,” the figures reveal.
The education department has a sanctioned strength of 257 posts of librarians and 156 posts of junior librarians in Kashmir division against which only 78 and 84 posts have been filled so far. “179 posts of librarian and 72 posts of junior librarians are unfilled,” the documents states.
More than 130 posts of library assistants are also unfilled in the department as against sanctioned strength of 441 posts only 307 posts have been filled. “There are 6525 posts of class IV employees against which only 4287 posts have been filled and 2238 posts are lying vacant,” reads the document.
