SRINAGAR: For the 3rd consecutive day a complete shutdown was observed in Sopore town of Baramulla district against the killing of militants commander Abdul Qayoom Najar.
All business establishments and shops are shut in the town while a skeletal movement of traffic is visible, reports said. Meanwhile authorities also had imposed restrictions in some parts of town, including main chowk, tehsil road, Batpora chowk and Chankhan area to prevent any untoward incident.
Najar who was longest surviving militant commander of the valley, was killed in a gunfight near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri area of the district on Tuesday. According to Police he was killed while he was trying to cross over to this side after meeting UJC chief Syed Salahuddin in Pakistan.
