Sopore militant laid to rest, funeral triggers protests

Sopore: Intense stone pelting and protests have marked the funeral procession of the slain militant Mehraj Sofi in Sopore town of North Kashmir.
The funeral prayers of the slain militant who was killed in a gunfight with forces along with top Lashkar Commander Naveed Jat in Budgam on Wednesday were held in historical Iqbal Market this morning triggering protests and stone pelting.
The stone pelting according to reporter was responded with Police resorting to teargas shelling bringing chaos in the town. Further details are awaited. (KNS)
