Shutdown, protests in Sumbal Bandipora against arrest of local youth by Dehli Police

Bandipora : A complete shutdown was observed in Sumbal area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district here on today against the arrest of local youth who was picked by Dehli Police.
Hilal Ahmed Bhat son of Abdul Majeed Bhat resident of Sumbal Bandipora, according to family sources, was arrested on 22nd of this month by Police for questioning and later Shifted to Dehli.
Eyewitnesses said that hundreds of people held a protest demonstration in Sumbal Bandipora against the arrest of Hilal.
While raising slogans “We want justice, stop harassing Kashmiris,” protesters demanding the immediate release of Hilal. Family members appeal to the Delhi Special Police Cell authorities to release him on humanitarian basis as he has never been involved in any criminal activity.
Meanwhile all shops and business establishments were closed in the area, while traffic remained off the roads. Earlier Traders Federation Sumbal Bandipora has called for complete shutdown against the arrest of Hilal Ahmad by Dehli Police.
A police officer said that Hilal was arrested in case with FIR No. 17/2019 under section 25, 27, 54, 59 Indian Arms act and 16, 18, 18-B and 20 of unlawful activities. He added that Hilal has been shifted to Dehli for further investigation. (KNS)
