SRINAGAR: Life was affected in Kashmir valley on Monday due to a shutdown call given by traders, transporters and resistance leadership against summoning of leaders, traders by the National Investigation Agency.
All shops and other business establishments were closed in city center Lal Chowk of Srinagar while public transport remained mostly off the roads. However, private transport was plying normally. Meanwhile in Downtown area of Srinagar restrictions were put in place by the authorities to prevent any protests.
On the other hand train service between Banihal and Baramulla were also suspended by the authorities due to apprehensions of law and order disturbances in view of the strike call”. “As a precautionary measure, Banihal-Baramulla rail service may please be suspended on September 25,” read an official order.
Traders and transporters have called for Kashmir Bandh today to protest against the NIA notice to Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) Yasin Khan who has been summoned to Delhi today. Joint Resistance Leadership of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik have supported the strike call.
