‘Either government should initiate peace process or give up’
SRINAGAR: Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, member of Legislative assembly from Khansahab constituency while reacting on the present situation in Kashmir said that either government should initiate peace process or give up.
He told PTK that they BJP-PDP should decide if they are running a government or a dictatorship. “The recent viral videos of beating of youth were seen by everybody, even by the government, but no action was taken”.
He said since 2014 the education of Kashmiri children is affected adding that the use of force against the students will only alienate them further. Yaseen said there is no difference between government and Hurriyat as they are closing educational institution while Hurriyat issues strike calls. He said this nature of governance only damages the education of Kashmir children.
He said that the government has no control over security forces. “They should keep away forces from educational institutions”, he added. He told PTK, that the initiative like removal of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) is need for the restoration of peace. “If the government fails to take initiatives, they should resign”, he said.
Talking on social media ban, internet chocking, he told PTK that this will help in no ways. “How come the claim of digital India is possible amid this ban? Even if they do it, we have media, how come they curb the voices. It is an emergency situation without declaration in the Valley.
Commenting on the statement of BJP leader about stone pelters, he said that the Alliance needs to discipline their own leaders. “How come they say stone pelters should face bullet. They should take disciplinary action against such leaders. Are they (BJP-PDP) running government or dictatorship”, he told PTK.
Yaseen laments that Kashmir lost trade, tourism and now education adding that it is heading towards an unfortunate phase.
