Srinagar: RJ Umar Nisar has been honoured with UNICEF’s #Radio4Child Award for 2024, in a special event held in Mumbai. This marks his second consecutive year receiving the UNICEF award, showcasing his ongoing dedication to impactful broadcasting.

According to details the award was presented by Ayushmann Khurrana, UNICEF Celebrity supporter and national brand ambassador, in the presence of representatives from the UN, UNICEF, and key figures from the radio and media industry.

Originally from the Tral hamlet of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, Umar embarked on his radio journey at the age of 12. He has emerged as a strong advocate for child rights, climate change, immunization, mental health, and youth development.

Umar currently hosts the “Mashq Talks” radio podcast in Kashmir, addressing important issues in the region.

Umar expressed, “I’m very happy and proud of the accomplishments which UNICEF acknowledged. Such awards give you the courage to work more efficiently. I dedicate this award to my mother for all the unconditional support throughout my life.”

In his message to youth, Umar highlighted the importance of hard work and dedication. “Believe in yourself, work hard, and get a good plan going. Don’t shy away from seeking advice and grabbing opportunities,” he advised.

He added, “I come from a small village in Tral, Pulwama, which is not even on Google Maps yet, but remember, success depends on your dedication, not where you’re from. So, hustle, be good to your parents, and success will follow.”—(KNO)
