Revoke ban on mining activities : Er Aijaz

SRINAGAR: Appealing government to revoke ban on mining activities at Athwajan and Pantha Chowk quarries, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) State Vice President, Er Aijaz Hussain said the same decision has made the lives of thousands of people miserable.

He appealed government to provided alternate means of livelihood to the people involved into the business. “People have been suffering financial hardships due to the prevailing situation and banning mining has further complicated their miseries,” he said, at least a time period be given to them till they find some alternate means of earnings.

He said the matter should be dealt with seriously so that no one will snatch the livelihood of more than 30000 people associated with this in one way or other. Er Aijaz Hussain said that the state administration should use its imagination and come up with a sustainable and fair solution that doesn’t hamper their economic survival.

“There are some vest interested people, who used this as their tool to gain political mileage and trying to deprive thousands of souls of livelihood and peace,” he said. Hussain also appealed government to find a proper rehabilitation scheme for these people.
