SRINAGAR: Residents of Prang village of Ganderbal are up arms against the officials of Power development Department (PDD) for not repairing the defunct transformer.
They said that the village is consists of nearly hundred households who have been left to face the brunt of non availability of electricity in these chilly winters.
“We are without electricity since last 15 days. Our pleas are falling to deaf ears. The concern officials are unmoved. We demand that the transformer should be repaired immediately to ease out the suffering of residents”, said Farooq Bhat a local resident. He said that the transformer have been taken for repairing several days before which is lying untouched at PDD office.
When contacted Technician at PDD M&RE Ganderbal, Javid Ahmad, he said that transformer would be reappeared within five days.
Residents also alleged that the PDD employees are demanding money for repairing the transformer. When contacted M&RE (PDD) Ganderbal Muzzafar Mukthar, he said that if any employee is demanding money, residents should bring into the notice of higher officials. “We will take a strict action against”, he adds.
