SRINAGAR: Residents of Zesibal, Soinar and Jawaharpora Laam villages of Tral staged a protest against the non-completion of the road works in the area.
They said that the work which was initiated by the PMGSY two years ago, is not yet complete, and is also stalled at present.
They alleged that the PMGSY department fails to complete the construction of 3.5 kilometres stretch Zesibal Road. The locals said that the work on the road started in March 2017 and it is still incomplete.
“We are baffled by the indifferent attitude shown by the concerned department. The construction of Zesibal – Laam Road is still incomplete two years after it was dug up for making it a macademised road”, they said.
The 3.5 kilometer road is the sole passage for over 5,000 people of those two villages. It is also a shortcut for zesibal and Jawaharpora lam villagers and Gujjarsaran area.
A local resident Nizam -Ud -Din Gojar said that even a little rain causes the road to become waterlogged. Often pedestrians slip on the muddy road when it rains.
The residents of zesibal have been waiting fruitlessly for a road in their locality for the last two years. One of the residents Shabir Ahmad Baba, said, “The road work has been left incomplete for the last two years. Nobody bothers to complete the road, which is causing a lot of distress to all the residents, especially the elderly. The stretch gets difficult to commute during night time, as there is less visibility, and the chances of one tripping over and falling are greater. We still await the concerned authorities to come and complete the road before someone meets with an accident.”
“The result of the incomplete work has been that passing vehicles leave a trail of dust that settles in front of the houses and makes life difficult for people there” said another local Resident.
Meanwhile AE PMGSY Pulwama, when contacted,” Said that there was some GSB issue and with in two or three days we will resume the work on said road. (PTK)
