SRINAGAR: Residents of Neharpora area of Sopore Saturday staged protest demonstration against Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department alleging continuous water crisis in their area.
Scores of people particularly women took to roads and blocked traffic service at Iqbal Market to press for their demand.
The protesters shouted slogans against PHE department for failing to provide them regular water supply and for ignoring their sufferings in this holy month of Ramadan.
While alleging PHE department Sopore the protestors said that many times they approached concerned authorities for their “genuine issue” but no action has been taken to address their “grave concern”. They appealed the higher authorities to look into the matter.
Meanwhile officials at PHE department Sopore when contacted said that due to leakage in water pipe line inconvenience was caused to residents. They added that they have sent one water tanker today for the people and also started work on pipe line so that people get water as per schedule. (PTK)
