Ramban: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah faced an emotionally charged atmosphere in Ramban on Tuesday as locals stopped his convoy during his visit to the flash flood and landslide-hit region. The demonstrators, many of whom lost property and livelihood in the natural calamity, expressed frustration over what they called “slow relief measures” and “lack of timely help.
“The Chief Minister, who had arrived in the area braving rough weather a day earlier, halted his convoy to personally engage with the protesting locals.
He patiently listened to their grievances and assured them that the government was committed to providing all possible assistance to the affected families.
Yesterday, Omar Abdullah visited Kali Morh along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, one of the worst-hit zones, to supervise the ongoing relief operations and assess the extent of the destruction. [KNT]
