Srinagar: Senior Congress leaders have pitched for change of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President during the meeting with newly appointed JK affairs Incharge Rajni Patil in Srinagar.
During the visit of the Rajni Patil, the resentment and rebellion against JKPCC President Ghulam Ahmad Mir was visible in the party as none of the senior leaders joined the meetings in Congress Party Office in Srinagar.
Rajni Patil, a former minister from Maharastra, was on a five-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir. Patil met senior leaders and interacted with activists in Jammu and Srinagar. However, none of the senior party leaders except few met her in the functions, either in Jammu or Srinagar, which were attended in presence of Ghulam Ahmad Mir.
Sources said that today in Srinagar senior Congress leaders including Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed, Taj Mohiddin, Ghulam Nabi Monga, Khem Lata Wakhloo, Amin Bhat, Anwar Bhat, Manzoor Ganaie and Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan and other leaders met Patil in Nehru Guest House and suggested the need to strengthen the party in Jammu and Kashmir.
“All the leaders unanimously suggested revamping the party in Jammu and Kashmir and stressed for change of JKPCC president and other office bearers,” sources told KDC.
Several youth leaders of the party presented a memorandum to Patil where they suggested immediate revamp in the party. They have said that “sycophants and tainted” people surrounded the JKPCC JKPCC president and these people have no presence or support on the ground.
Meanwhile, Patil suggested that the party guard in Jammu and Kashmir will be changed after she will meet Congress Party high command in New Delhi.
“I have received representation in Srinagar and in Jammu from party leaders and activists suggesting changes in the party. I will present the facts before the high command in New Delhi, which will take a decision about it,” Patil said in a press conference in Srinagar. (KDC)
