Leaders to Engage with Party Workers, Hold Talks on Possible Pre-Poll Alliance with NC
Srinagar: Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, senior Congress leaders, including AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, MP and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and other leaders landed in Srinagar today.Sources told that the leaders arrived from Delhi via a special chartered flight.They said that AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, MP and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, MP K.C. Venugopal, Kaushal Vidyarthee, Pranav Jha, and Basil Raj Kunnel arrived here.A congress leader said during their stay, the delegation is expected to meet with party workers and hold discussions centered on the key issues regarding assembly elections.Party sources said that Rahul and Kharge may also meet National Conference leaders Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah for forging a pre-poll alliance.Sources said both Congress and NC leadership have started talks on formation of alliance. During his meeting with leaders, Kharge and Rahul could give final go-ahead to the NC-Congress alliance.Meanwhile sources revealed that many political leaders and activists are expected to join the Congress party in the next 24-hours who will be welcomed by Rahul Gandhi and Malik Arjun Kharge.
