KALAKOTE : National Conference on Saturday held a massive sit-in dharna in support of the demand for separate Additional Deputy Commissioner in Kalakote.
Raising slogans in support of their demands and criticizing the PDP-BJP Government for forcing the people to take out to streets, the protesters, led by former MLA and State Secretary Th Rachpal Singh, courted arrest.
The police held Th Rachpal Singh along with large number of party workers besides functionaries of the Beopar Mandal. They were let go from the Kalakote Police Station after two hours.
Assailing the coalition government, especially the BJP for its anti-poor and anti-people policies thus pushing the entire region in an unprecedented crisis, Th Rachpal Singh cautioned that the agitation may further spread if the administration fails in taking timely decision with the popular demand of the people.
The former MLA hoped that the Jha Panel will take note of the demands projected by the people of Kalakote, Nowshera and Sunderbani and post separate and independent Additional Deputy Commissioners on permanent basis. He said Kalakote has suffered on all fronts during the past three years due to misrepresentation. He cautioned the government not to test patience of the people and address to their problems on priority.
Th Rachpal Singh lauded resilience of the people and hoped that they will continue to maintain their time tested unity and amity, which he described their greatest strength. “Unity and inclusiveness alone can help us achieve our objectives”, he said and cautioned against the machinations of the coalition government, which has been dividing the people to hide their failures.
